Nothing beats a live band!

We offer a variety of formats, to suit occasion, venue and budget.

4 piece – drums, bass, guitar with male and female vocals.  This gives a highly adaptable set, covering a large number of genres… from Taylor Swift to Kings of Leon, from Dolly Parton to The Killers…  The male and female vocals allow Rollercoaster to cross the genres, and provide a lush mix of harmonies and textures.  It’s a perfect foundation to build on.

5 piece – all of the above, but add in a fiddle player, or a keyboard player.  The 5 piece is the most popular format – giving the music musical options and variety.  A must for the Celtic and County  Twist –  Devil Went Down To Georgia, Fields of Athenry, Irish Rover, Wagon Wheel, Galway Girl… the fiddle can make it so!

6 piece – Gives all the options… fiddle AND keyboard… 6 musicians playing in harmony.  It looks and sounds great.  If you love music, and love a show, then this is the one

Call or email us – we’ll work out whatever is best for your individual occasion.

Weddings

WEDDINGS

Of the 40+ gigs Rollercoaster play every year, the majority of them are weddings.  We are absolutely at home with a wedding crowd, and know exactly how to work a room.  We play many different venues, different load-ins, stages, rooms, marquess.  Experience pays off – after all the last thing you want to worry about on your special day, is wether the band can figure out how to find the front door to a venue… or find the right power socket…

DJ playlist

Are there songs you want to hear that we don’t play… no problem, we can DJ them in the breaks (Chris drums is very handy on his laptop deck, and will play to the crowd… or can work with a Spotify playlist if you send one through in advance)

  • Nick and Vicky... and friends.

Parties, Birthdays and Corporate Events

Birthday Parties and Anniversaries

We are quite often asked to play birthday parties for clients.  The most common are 40th and 50th birthdays, though we have played all others (including a couple of few 21st-60th parties).  These are fantastic events to play, and a few of them have themes – like James Bond, 70’s, Country etc.
We work with the client to provide the best solution for a top party…and we have no problem dressing up to suit the theme – in fact we enjoy it!

Corporate

Rollercoaster are proud of their reputation when playing corporate events and parties.

We play large and small – from the headline slot at The Cheltenham Gold Cup Irish Day, or the Annual Gala Dinner for Clinique at Gleneagles, to an intimate company event. And what makes it better, is building relationships with out clients, with repeat bookings.  We work with the clients, ensuring we fit their brand – aiming for a slick professional event… one to remember.

Clients Include:  Amack Consultants, Teaching Personnel, P&G, S&B, Concordia Healthcare, Imagine Group, Sommerfield, Formula 1, the Vintage Sports-Car Club, Pearson Education, Interglobal / Aetna, Straumann, Trade Direct Insurance, OCEA, Vertikal Days, Action For AT, The Jockey Club (Cheltenham, Kempton Park), Rugby Football Union, UK Polocrosse Association, Wentworth, Blackrock Recruitment, COOP, Reeds School, Heathmont School, Clinique, Splendid Hospitality Group, The Hilton Bankside Hotel, Bucks County Farmers

Celtic and Ceilidh

Céilidh

Irish

Rollercoaster are often booked for events that require an element of Irish music – traditional and non-traditional.  From the haunting sounds of Riverdance, to the gentle waltzing of Molly Malone… from the fiery vigor of Whiskey In The Jar, to the stirring, anthemic sounds of The Fields Of Athenry.  Our fiddle players have grown up playing Celtic fiddle – it’s fair to say it’s in their blood.  As a band, Rollercoaster cut their teeth in the Irish pubs across London.  There’s nothing better than a solid reel or jig to bring a crowd together – and raise the roof at the end of the night.

The setlists vary for different events – even for the full on Irish events, we will blend in a few non traditional songs, though keep them fiddle driven…  However, with most events, a wedding where half the guests are Irish, then we will blend the Irish songs in where appropriate.  It gives everyone a chance to dance and enjoy the night!

Irish tunes we include are: Wagon Wheel, Fields Of Athenry, Toss The Feathers, Fleur De Mandragore, Black Velvet Band, Molly Malone, Fairytale New York, Galway Girl, I Used To Love Her, Dirty Old Town, Wild Rover, Irish Rover, Mountain Dew, Whiskey In The Jar

EXTRAS

Reception and Dinner Music

The Rollercoaster Cocktail Duo – guitar and fiddle.

The Rollercoaster Cocktail Band can provide the perfect backdrop to your drinks reception.  The musical style is swing / jazz with a gypsy twist – very suited to champagne receptions/black tie events ( bass & shuffle brushed snare can be added if desired ).  This music is meant to be non intrusive, though entertaining, ideal to sip drinks to, and unwind before the evenings events.  It compliments Rollercoaster as the main act, with quality and excellence, though the musical genres don’t crossover – meaning it is independent of the main act … there won’t be any repetition.

The format covers 2 hours of music, which is 1.5 hours of live playing, with iPod music in the breaks.

An example of how the timings typically work, at a wedding reception, are as follows…
Act arrival at venue: 2.30pm
Setup by 3pm
Set times: 3pm-5pm

We will usually only take bookings for the Rollercoaster Cocktail Band, if the main band is booked later on, for the same event… but there are some exceptions, so call or email if you have an enquiry.  Checkout the following video – it shows the cocktail duo performing (before the main band set)…

Holly’n’Al Duo

Drinks reception music

Holly sings with Rollercoaster – Al sings and plays bass.  Together, with Al on guitar, they are Holly’n’Al.  This is great music for receptions – light hearted, beautiful close harmonies, classic songs – vocal led.  The setlist ( check it out here ) covers music entirely separate from the main Rollercoaster set, so no cross over there.  Best to check out the video below, which is a compilation of highlights from a relaxed pub garden show – one of the few public performances these guys do!

Rob Goldfinch

Solo Pianist

Drinks reception music / dinner music

We work with the most superb pianist, Rob Goldfinch.  Rob, who can cover all the ceremony music (he performs organ recitals countrywide) is also a highly versatile piano player – playing a wide range of jazz, blues, rock and pop interpretations.

Professional Church Organist

Ceremony Music – church organ / keyboard

Of course, if you were to go traditional,  then look no further than Rollercoaster keyboard and organ professional Rob Goldfinch… (see video)  Rob’s set spans traditional classical, to Coldplay… or whatever you would like to suggest!

Ceremony – Fiddle / Guitar Duo

Guitar and fiddle gives some great options for ceremony music… an example could be:

Here Comes The Sun – for milling ∞ Adele – Make You feel My Love – for isle ∞ Harvest Moon – Neil Young … Walking Away from wedding

OTHER OPTIONS:
In my Life – Beatles, Loving You – Minnie Ripperton, Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran, Stand By Me – Ben E King, Better Together – Jack Johnson

Solo Musicians – Strolling Fiddle

It’s hard to get much better than Chris Haigh, if you want a strolling musician to entertain your guests.  Small wonder that it was Chris Haigh playing fiddle for the wedding folk at Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall’s wedding… he is the best in the business – and you can have him at your event!
